A person may even become irritable and easily frustrated because the mental pictures of the situation have become distorted thinking becomes a habit and not just an irrational thought.

Anxiety can be present at any age. Adults, teenagers, and children are all more likely to develop anxiety attacks. Children and teenagers are commonly known to suffer from depression and behavioral problems, and anxiety is one of the leading causes of depression in children. In the older age groups, people tend to be more introverted, which can make them vulnerable to developing anxiety.

Treatments for anxiety include medication, therapy, or a combination of these methods. Treatment can be found in many forms:

Prescription medication- this is one of the most common methods of treatment for anxiety disorders. These types of medications can be drugs, behavioral therapy, herbal remedies, hypnosis, a combination of both or nothing at all. The type of medication that is prescribed will depend on the nature of the case.

Psychotherapy- This is a method that involves addressing the causes of the problem and addressing the effects. This can be done in a group setting or individually. There are two main types of psychotherapy – cognitive and behavioral.
